The Unseen Hand: A Personal Story of God’s Faithfulness
The Unseen Hand: A Personal Story of God’s Faithfulness
Life has a way of bringing us to our knees. In my own journey, there have been moments so dark, so confusing, that I didn’t think I’d make it through. But it was in those very moments—when I had no strength left—that God revealed Himself to me in the most personal and powerful way.
Not with a loud voice or a dramatic miracle. But through His unseen hand—quietly, faithfully working behind the scenes to protect, guide, and provide for me when I least expected it.
Again and again, in times of desperate need, He was already there. Not late. Not early. Right on time.
This is a story about my late wife, Lynn — and about the God who revealed Himself to me in the darkest valleys.
If you’re going through a hard season right now—if you feel forgotten or alone—I encourage you to read her story. Not for my sake, but for yours. Because the same God who met me in my lowest place is waiting to meet you in yours.
This is her story as naturally told ...
An Unexpected Story – Reaching Out for Lynn.
The Night Everything Changed!
Let me tell you what happened.
On November 25, 2022, around midnight, Lynn and I were flying home from Auckland to Kuala Lumpur after visiting our son. Then, out of nowhere, Lynn started having seizures. One after another.
I called the flight attendant right away. They moved Lynn from her seat to the pantry area, and then an announcement came over the speaker: "Is there a doctor on board?"
I couldn't believe it – more than ten doctors stood up. They came from the UK, New Zealand, and other places. They worked on Lynn as she kept seizing – five times in total. Eventually, they got her stabilized.
The doctors said she needed emergency hospital treatment right away. We were still seven hours from Kuala Lumpur. So the captain made a decision: divert to the nearest airport. That was Brisbane, Australia.
I Felt Totally Lost
When I first heard we were being diverted to Brisbane, my heart sank. I didn't know a single person there. But somehow, deep down, I felt like God was directing us to Brisbane – not Bali or anywhere else. He was in control, even though I felt lost.
When we landed, paramedics came on board. They took Lynn and me by ambulance to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital. That's where we found out the seizures had affected her brain. She needed a miracle.
Strangers Became Angels
At the hospital, I was standing in the emergency ward, not knowing what to do. Then a Christian lady named Robyn Taylor walked up to me. She said, "I'm here to help."
I told her I was new here and asked if she could help me figure out the admission forms. She talked to the person in charge and explained that I should sign the forms so the doctors could start treating Lynn. She also told me this hospital was one of the best. So I called my eldest son, and he said, "Dad, sign the form."
But Robyn didn't stop there. She saw I had no clothes except the ones I was wearing – all our luggage had gone to Kuala Lumpur. So she took me to buy food and clothes. She was so kind. Truly Christlike.
Then God Sent a Doctor
Around the same time, Ben Peters from KingdomCity texted me. He said, "I have a doctor in Brisbane. Would it help if you talked to him? Or should I ask him to come? His name is Dr. Ash."
Robyn told Ben that Dr. Ash was already on his way. Later, my son Arthur told me something amazing: Dr. Ash dropped everything and came because he felt the Holy Spirit urging him urgently. When he arrived at the hospital, he came to the emergency ward, saw Lynn, and prayed for her.
Praise the Lord!
Another Prayer Warrior Showed Up
Later, Lynn was moved to another ward. Then an elderly pastor named Pastor John Micklewright came looking for her. I met him, and he said, "I didn't know where Lynn was, but I met someone who pointed me the way." He prayed for her too.
Everything was happening one after another – like dominoes falling into place.
Our Son Came
My son Arthur flew all the way from New Zealand to Brisbane to be with his mom. Our other sons wanted to come but couldn't because of visas and other circumstances. Arthur took care of our accommodation and food.
God's People Opened Their Homes
We moved from place to place, but God kept providing. I want to specially thank the Christians who opened their homes to us – some even took us out for lunch. When they saw our situation, they had such compassionate hearts.
Brian from International City Church (ICC) and other concerned members.
Pastor Mark and Nina Elmendorp – the senior pastors of Emerge Church. They didn't just offer us two rooms to stay in; they even cooked Asian food that we liked. Every day, this couple took us to the hospital and back. Sometimes their daughter would drive us too. Thank God for such wonderful Christians – truly people of God.
We stayed in North Lakes, about an hour from Brisbane, in someone's home, until Lynn was cleared to fly.
Coming Home
Nevertheless, when Lynn reached Kuala Lumpur International Airport, she was wheeled straight to Putrajaya Hospital. She remained there for almost a month.
Then, on December 24, 2022 – Christmas Eve – the Lord took her home.
We Haven't Forgotten
To everyone who gave love gifts to the Keng family – thank you. It means so much to us.
Final Word
What started as a terrifying night became a journey of God's faithfulness. In a foreign country where I knew no one, God sent doctors, pastors, strangers, and an entire church family to hold us up.
Lynn is now with Jesus. And I know that one day, I will see her again.
Praise God – even in the sorrow.
With love,
Rev. Tanny & the Keng Family
